Both the pen and pencil have been made from stunning Olive Wood from Bethlehem. For the eco conscious, the beauty of this being that no trees were felled or cut down in its production; these protected trees are merely pruned every autumn and the wood sold to craftsmen such as myself to produce these beautiful wooden pens.
The pen has a smooth Parker Pen type insert which is a joy to write with and has been mounted with gold plated fittings. The wooden pencil, also mounted with 24K gold plated fittings, has a fine replaceable propelling lead, suitable for fine detail drawing. These wooden pens and pencils are the perfect gift for a 5th wedding anniversary, unusual wooden birthday gift or wedding favours.

This prehistoric Oak has lain undisturbed in the peat bogs of Ireland for almost 5000 years. The oak is air dried for two years before we individually carve and mount the 24Kt gold plate or chrome fittings, turning this ancient wood into a beautiful writing instrument. The pen is propelled with a twist action and takes a standard ballpoint refill.

This beautiful black wood is formed from majestic ancient Oak trees which lived and fell over 5000 thousand years ago. The trees were preserved in the marshy peat bogs of what we now call the Norfolk Fens. Laying just below the surface and starved of oxygen the acidic boggy conditions slowly turned the wood black over thousands of years.
This ancient wood is now highly prized and used in fine cabinet making, jewellery making and of course lends itself beautifully to our lovely writing instruments.
Please note - each individual piece of this ancient dark wood will have its own unique grain pattern, natural wood knots and characteristics.

Ultimately we are aiming to make wooden pens from virtually all of the UK’s suitable trees - for example Silver Birch and Elm (which is unfortunately now one of our rarest trees).
Every wooden pen or pencil is uniquely handcrafted at The Wood Hut workshop from wood that has been eco responsibly sourced and in many cases wood that we have dried and seasoned for many years. We also make wooden pens from unusual and historical sources such as driftwood and oak from the Tay Rail Bridge.
Whether your wooden pen/pencil is for a Birthday or Christmas present, a graduation or 5th wedding anniversary, we, as a modern internet company, aim to make the whole process of choosing and ordering your unique gift effortless and a pleasure, working closely with you throughout the whole process.
Q. How long will it take for you to make my pen?
Usually our pens and pencils are made within 2-3 working days, but this can be sooner if you have an earlier deadline.
